Grok, after I opened the live composer and the company pages
I went looking for the assistant on grok.com and the lineup SpaceXAI actually ships: Grok 4.6 for chat and code, Imagine for stills and clips, Voice for spoken turns, Grok Build in the terminal. This is my notebook, not their homepage.
The first screen on grok.com asked what we should explore, with Imagine and Build Mode sitting next to Fast. I did not treat that as a slogan. I treated it as a map of what the product will do in one thread.
What it can make
Official stills, plus the text and code I actually kept
Imagine is a real product on grok.com and on the Grok page: stills and clips in the same thread, restyle and edits included. The pictures below are official product art I saved from the SpaceXAI site — coffee, hardware, a workshop fox, a chrome figure, a sneaker. I did not generate covers to fill a grid. I did not get a native Imagine clip downloaded, so there is no video row. Text and code sit as honest snippets, not fake photographs.

Grok is the assistant SpaceXAI puts on the official Grok website, on iOS and Android, and inside X. The Grok product page I opened calls it useful AI for everyone: chat, search, reason, and create in one place, with answers that can follow what is happening now. That is the positioning I saw, not a ranking I invented.
Under the fold the same page splits the work into Chat, Multi-agent, Search, and Imagine. Chat is writing, research, and recaps, with images, video, and code in the same thread plus voice. Multi-agent runs parallel workers on hard questions and shows the work. Search hits the web and X live. Imagine generates stills and video from text or a reference photo, with restyle and edits, up to 2K and 15-second clips. I am repeating those claims because I read them there, not because I bench-tested every mode in one sitting.
The company homepage at x.ai is louder about builders: Grok 4.6 as the new model, one API for text, code, voice, images, and video, plus cards for Chat, Build, Imagine, Voice, and Bot. grok.com in the footer is still the consumer door. I keep those two hosts straight. This notebook is about the assistant a person opens, with the API names only where the docs named a version I needed for the catalog.
I also opened Voice and Build as their own products. Voice is not only a mic on the composer; it is a Voice Agent Builder, speech-to-speech, transcription, and cloning. Grok Build is a terminal agent now powered by Grok 4.6, with plan mode so edits wait for approval. SuperGrok on the consumer page is higher limits, priority access, and multi-agent — a plan, not a model slug. If a feature was a rumor or a competitor’s trick, I left it out.

I am not inventing an onboarding. The Get started block on x.ai/grok is blunt: open Grok, sign in, start chatting. I would still pick a mode — Search, Imagine, Voice, or Build — once the composer is up.

Grok 4.6 is the flagship the homepage and Grok Build both advertise. Grok 4.5 is still on the models table. Imagine Image 2.0 and Imagine Video 1.5 are the visual pair the docs recommend. Grok Voice and Grok Build are products with their own pages. Grok Bot showed up in chrome and in news cards. I did not add names from another vendor.

Why I still open Grok on some days and not others
One thread, several tools
Chat on the Grok page is allowed to write, search, draw, clip, and code without sending me to a separate app. That is the habit I wanted. I still choose Imagine or Build on purpose when the job is visual or a repo.
Now, not last year
Search with web and X is the reason Grok exists in my news ritual. Training cutoffs are honest on the docs; tools are how you get past them. I open the citations.
A coding agent that waits
Grok Build’s plan mode blocks edits until I approve. That is rarer than vendors admit. I would rather argue with a plan than clean up a surprise diff.
Voice that is a product, not a demo
The Voice page is an agent builder, not a toy waveform. I have not stood up SIP. I have used the composer mic. Those are different jobs and I keep them separate.
